New Line Cinema has purchased an untitled Mariah Carey Christmas pitch from RatPac Entertainment, in hopes of making a Carey Christmas movie, reports Deadline. Producer Jonathan Shestack confirmed that he’s working on the untitled project with Carey’s good friend, director Brett Ratner, co-producing.

“It’s a little bit about how music can take you back in time,” Shestack told EW. “It will be everything you hope a Christmas movie with Mariah Carey would be.”

Word has it that Carey is up for a major role in the film.

Christmastime is special for Carey, who in the past penned and performed her 1994 hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” that has since sold more than 14 million copies worldwide; making it the biggest holiday perennial in history as well as her biggest international hit.

While many of you may be worried about Carey both acting and possibly singing in an upcoming film, she has come quite a long way from Sparkle. Hit the flip for three reasons this yuletide flick has to happen.
