Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, the IMF agent able to do the incredible in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation in theaters Friday. In the fifth installment of the series, Hunt is trying to bring down The Syndicate, an organization of rogue spies dedicated to creating worldwide havoc. In honor of Mission: Impossible, here are five reasons to catch Rogue Nation.
– The cast. The talented actors in the film include Ving Rhames returning as Luther Stickel and Simon Pegg as Benji, whose unwavering confidence in Ethan is notable throughout. Alec Baldwin plays CIA Director Alan Hunley.
– Action scenes. The Mission: Impossible franchise is known for its classic action scenes and Rogue Nation adds to the list. From motorcycle chases to a battle in an opera house, the film takes you on an action-packed ride that lures you to the edge of your seat and keeps you there to the end of the film.
– The villain. Sean Harris stars as Solomon Lane, the heartless leader of The Syndicate who plays Ethan and the IMF agents like puppets through the film, controlling their actions as if on a worldwide scavenger hunt with their lives hanging in the balance.
– Rebecca Ferguson is superb. Playing the character of Ilsa Faust, a spy who keeps you, and Hunt, guessing which side she is truly on. Dressed to kill with the skill to match, her performance is one of the highlights of the film.
– Tom Cruise. A little over 19 years after the debut of the first Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise brings the same screen presence, charisma and intensity that have made him a film icon for over three decades. Cruise plays Hunt with the same unflappable swagger that has led this franchise to gross close to $750 million domestically. Look for that number to close in on $1 billion as a result of the excellence of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
