It seems that ABC has gone from seeing red to seeing green when it comes to scandal-ridden artist Chris Brown. Despite the young singer having trashed a dressing room and yelled at a network producer, ABC allegedly wants to reunite Chris Brown and Rihanna for an on-air sit down interview.
According to a source for eonline.com, ABC wants to “milk this event for everything it’s worth. It’s all about the ratings … at all other costs.”
Another rumor is that ABC wants to offer Brown a reality show. However, an insider at ABC who’s familiar with the Brown situation, explains that a reality show is highly unlikely.
“No, that would never happen here,” said the insider. “What’s far more likely is orchestrating Chris Brown talking to Rihanna for the first time.”
Although many would assume that Diane Sawyer, who interviewed Rihanna shortly after the domestic violence scandal broke in 2009, would handle the interview, the insider explains that Sawyer won’t have anything to do with it.
“She would never do it … it would be Robin [Roberts],” said the insider.
In related news, Brown won’t be able to seek advice about the interview from his publicist, Tammy Brook, who has officially parted ways with the singer following his violent outburst on “Good Morning America.”
In a statement to radaronline.com, Brook explained that her time with Brown was only meant to be temporary and that the two parted amicably.
“I am an entertainment/music publicist and was hired as a publicist, as they often are, to work specifically on his music publicity for the term up to the release of Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. album, which was released on Tuesday March 22 and is entering the Billboard and iTunes charts at No. 1 this week. I love and support Chris and it has been an honor to be a part of this album and I look forward to the possibility of working with him again in the future,” wrote Brook.
