Drake wants money for 'YOLO;' should other celebs be paid for slang?

On Christmas Eve, Young Money rapper Drake posted two images on Instagram that were allegedly from Walgreens and Macy’s; pictures of YOLO clothing. Drizzy has no ties to either store chain or the clothing line, and he indicated that he feels like they’re exploiting a phrase that he made famous.

“Walgreens … you gotta either chill or cut the cheque,” he posted. Despite his demands, there are those that say he was far from the first person to use it, and a contestant on “Average Joe” used the term as far back as 2004.


Drizzy is the latest in long line of celebrities who have introduced or helped popularize a slang term. It’s kind of hard to take credit for it after-the-fact, however.
