The problems just continue piling up for the brass over at Cash Money Records.
In addition to star artist Lil Wayne trying to leave the label, the company has just been hit with a $1.3 million lawsuit by former Hot Boy Turk.
Not only does Turk’s lawsuit claim the rapper has not received any royalties since signing with the Louisiana based label in 1998, but the suit also claims the company has “failed to pay (Turk) any royalties, advances, or music publishing.”
Another defendant named in the suit is Money Mack Music. Per a 1999 contract between Turk and the company, Money Mack was to collect payments of all advances, publishing and royalties on behalf of Turk.
The suit alleges that Money Mack and Cash Money acted in concert in their neglect to register Turk’s artist share of his 2001 solo album “Young & Thuggin'” in addition to his appearances on other songs such as Juvenile’s “Ha (Remix)” with the publishing comapny. Turk claims the failure of both companies to register his songs resulted in his losing out on publishing and performance royalties in addition to writing credits.
Turk’s lawsuit looks to make Cash Money and Money Mack Music hand over financial records give a line by line account payments made to determine how much is owed to him.
