A man murdered in Queens this week has been identified as Mazaradi Fox, a rapper formerly affiliated with 50 Cent and G-Unit Records. The shooting occurred on January 3, just after 4:00 pm. The rapper was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other victims, including Fox’s daughter, were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The 42-year old, whose birth name is Jamal Green, was reportedly released from a two-year prison bid just two weeks prior to his death. The NY Daily News reports that public court records state the rapper was convicted of attempted murder in 1998.
While Fox was never officially signed to the G-Unit label, the record company has released a statement regarding his death.
“We’re sorry to hear about the tragic news,” the statement says. “Our sympathy goes out to his family and friends. Despite reports, he was never on the G-Unit record label,” says a representative for G-Unit.
“50 Cent was in his New York studio and was saddened when he heard the news. He sends his condolences to Mazaradi’s family,” a representative for 50 Cent said.
