It has been a while since fans have heard new music from Keri Hilson, but in the meantime, though, we have watched her spend much of the past year gushing and blushing over her romance with NBA star Serge Ibaka. However, over the last few weeks, rumors have been slowly spreading that Hilson and Ibaka have parted ways. Although Hilson has remained mum about the details of her relationship, she recently hinted that the rumors might be true.
In a recent interview with TheJasmineBrand.com, Hilson was asked directly if she and Ibaka have broken up.
“This is going to be an interesting Valentine’s Day,” Hilson said.
“That’s all I’ll say. It’s going to be interesting. I’m working, I’m just busy, I’m busy. I feel like right now, music is my boyfriend. That’s how I feel, right now. So, I don’t know,” she added, explaining that she’s refocusing on her music.
Hilson also spoke with HipHollywood about the breakup and further confirmed that she and Ibaka are over.
“That can be difficult,” she said of enduring a public breakup. “I mean, you can always do without any facet of your life being exposed and dealing with it. Some things you want to deal with privately, but you’re not always given that option.”
Hilson refused to share anything else about her relationship status, but she offered some advice to other women about maintaining their standards.
“Know who you are. Umm, never drop your standards, for anyone. That’s it. I mean that in every since of the relationship. Business, you know whatever, if there’s a certain standard that you uphold, and you’re so strong-minded. There are some things that you [can] tweak in a relationship, but not your standard. Not that,” Hilson said.
Well, Hilson and Ibaka won’t be spending Valentine’s Day together, but there are certainly other celebrity couples who didn’t make it to Valentine’s Day either. Check out some other major breakups after the cut. – nicholas robinson
