After the death of fugitive terrorist Osama bin Laden was announced this weekend, many, including those in entertainment, voiced their delight over his death. But ever-controversial rapper Lil B took to Twitter to voice his sympathy for the family of the slain fugitive, inciting harsh criticism from fans and critics alike. Now, Lil B explaining his side of the story.
The drama began when the Bay Area rapper tweeted “[Just] because they say osama is dead dosent [sic] mean thats a good thing osama has family to that probably loves him alot as well,” causing an Internet uproar.
In a recent interview with Rob Markman of MTV’s RapFix Live, Lil B addressed his controversial tweet, explaining that he’s actually not well-informed about bin Laden or the 9/11 tragedy.
“First thing, I haven’t been too informed on the Osama bin Laden situation,” Lil B admitted. “When I get information, I like to have 100 percent truth.”
The rapper added, “Like before I even say something, I like to know what I’m talking about. With Osama, first, I wasn’t looking. I mean, I haven’t really been paying attention to it. I wanted to know what drove Osama bin Laden to feel this way. Just the person that I am, I like to sometimes take a deep breath and assess before I judge.”
Continuing his attempt to explain himself, Lil B said that his sympathy comes from the love and concern about his own family and that he believes in nonviolence.
“If somebody, and God bless everyone on 9/11, if somebody hurt my family like that for no reason. I don’t know if that was Osama. Whoever is watching this that really knows the truth, I want somebody to tell me what really went on. I can’t celebrate. I don’t support violence at all, I don’t support war,” he said.
