With a name like Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, bizarre antics and a charismatic and divisive de facto front man like Tyler, The Creator, it’s no surprise that hip-hop’s latest music collective has easily branded themselves as the genre’s most wild and crazy act. And now Odd Future is bringing their brand of hip-hop insanity to the small screen as Adult Swim announced that they’ve picked up a new TV series starring the bizarre bunch set to debut next year.
According to HipHopDX, Adult Swim confirmed in a press release that they’ve greenlit the Odd Future show called “Loiter Squad.” Though details about the 15-minute show are slim, the press release revealed that the show will feature “sketches, man on the street segments, pranks and music from Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.”
In their March Billboard cover story, management for the group described the show as a mix between “Jackass” and “Chappelle’s Show.” Though, considering the producers of the show, “Loiter Squad” will more closely resemble “Jackass.”
Dickhouse Entertainment, the “Jackass” production company comprised of Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Otis director Spike Jonze, have signed on to bring their wild and cinematic style to the series as the producers of “Loiter Squad.” Tremaine and Adult Swims’ Nick Weidenfeld will executive produce.
“Loiter Squad” will premiere sometime in 2012. –nicholas robinson
