Smokie Norful’s 5 Fave Gospel Videos

There’s no doubt, things are crazy in the world right now. The economy is trashed, nuclear weapons are a threat, the country is at war and it seems like a new natural disaster claims the lives of people every day. Award-winning gospel singer Smokie Norful, knows things are tough, but he says he’s here to let people know not to lose faith.

“There is hope, and I came to give it to you,” he says. “If you find time to encourage yourself in God — be prayerful, study the Word and really start searching yourself to figure out what you can do to be a blessing to the lives of other people, watch this world change.”

With that in mind, he took some time off from promoting his new album, Smokie Norful Live, to stop by ro’s office and share his favorite gospel videos of all time.

 1. Smokie Norful – “Justified”

Smokie’s Comments: “This is hot off the press! It’s brand new.”

2. Heather Headley and Smokie Norful – “Jesus is Love”

Smokie’s Comments: “In 1977, Lionel Richie put this song together, but Heather Headley and I made a remake. We took a classic and hopefully made it better, or at least just as good.”

3. The Clark Sisters – “Blessed and Highly Favored”

Smokie’s Comments: “… All of the things that have happened in my life, the awards, successes and victories, have been because of the Lord. When God favors you, there’s nothing that you can’t do.”

4. Myron Butler – “Stronger”

Smokie’s Comments: “It really talks about resilience, overcoming and being a conqueror. I know that God has the ability to give all of the strength to be a conqueror. I know that God has the ability to position us for success.”

5. Smokie Norful – “I Need You Now”

Smokie’s Comments: “My wife had just been diagnosed with tumors and they said she wasn’t going to have children — she was only 25 years old and they were talking hysterectomy. My dad was sick and he had to have open heart surgery — that’s my daddy, my rock, my friend, my pastor and all of a sudden you’re weakened and I have to care for you? Then my grandmother got sick — and this was back-to-back. When you have challenges in life and begin to go through storms, that’s where I was. I was about to go crazy. I said, “God I need you now! Please show up!” So I didn’t write it for anybody else, but I praise God that the things that I went through could help somebody else. … Now I have three beautiful babies and I have a healthy father.”
