TLC is set to go on tour for the first time since the untimely death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. As previously reported, April 25 marked the 10-year anniversary of the death of Lopes, who perished in a car crash in Honduras.
The surviving members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chili” Thomas, are planning a U.S. reunion tour and are said to have secured at least five tour dates. The ladies spoke openly about their plans with Essence magazine this week, even revealing that they plan to release a VH1 biopic.
According to Watkins, their roles will be played by relatively unknown actresses who can properly reprise the ’90s R&B group.
“It’s going to have to be new kids,” said T-Boz. “I can’t think of anybody that can play us. It’s not just about looking like me or dressing like me, you have to have the attitude, the dance moves.”
The biopic is written by screenwriter Kate Lanier who also wrote Set It Off and What’s Love Got to Do With It.
“I knew we would have a movie about us one day,” added Chilli.
For their upcoming tour dates, their fallen member will reportedly be remembered through images and recordings. Lopes will not be remembered through holographic image like Tupac Shakur was at this year’s Coachella Music Festival.
