Miami rapper Trick Daddy has reportedly been arrested in South Florida. The former Slip-N-Slide recording artist has been charged with possession of cocaine and possession of weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon.
According to a report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the 39-year-old rapper born Maurice Young was arrested Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his home in suburban Miramar. A drug task force had been conducting surveillance when Young attempted to leave in his vehicle. Deputies stopped the car based on an expired driver’s license, and he then is reported to have admitted that there was cocaine in his house.
After the deputies obtained a search warrant, they found a small amount of cocaine and a 9mm handgun with ammunition.
The hip-hop star has previous drug and weapons felony convictions. Trick Daddy is a native of Liberty City, a neighborhood in Miami. After making an appearance on Luke‘s hit single “Scarred,” he debuted with his 1997 album Based On A True Story before racking up a handful of hit singles in the late 90s/early 2000s, including “Nann N—a,” “Shut Up,” “Take It to the House,” and “I’m A Thug.”
