White House Correspondents’ Dinner photos
The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, held Saturday, May 3, drew a bevy of celebs to mark the 100th annual celebration. Hosted by comedian Joel McHale, the evening included a roast from President Obama that poked fun at Republicans and himself.
“In 2008 my slogan was ‘Yes we can,’ ” said the president. “In 2013 my slogan was ‘Control-alt-delete.’ ”
“These days, House Republicans are giving Speaker John Boehner a harder time than they give me, which means orange really is the new black,” he joked about Boehner’s continuously crispy tan.
All the while the president was rattling off jokes, Hollywood attendees were snapping photos at the dinner, which is often dubbed the “nerd prom” for its mix of celebs and politicians.
“Last #nerdprom #nerdprom2014 #whcd #whcd2014 photo of the night,” DJ Quest Love captioned a photo of himself with Bellamy Young, who plays first lady Mellie Grant on “Scandal.”
“Most fun I’ve ever had at these events and most important was I didn’t work at all this weekend. Imagine that,” he added.
Actress Uzo Aduba, who plays “Crazy Eyes” on Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” also snapped a picture showing off her gussied up style for the evening.
“I need to give major thanks to @meliskuris @gorjessmakeup and @heatfreehair for putting this chick together. So much #gratitude and #love,” she captioned the photo below.
Other attendees included Lupita Nyong’o, who pulled off yet another impeccably stylish look; Sofia Vergara; Rosario Dawson; and, of course, first lady Michelle Obama, who wore a glittery gray gown.
