On Monday, July 15, a special three-person panel recommended suspension for DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis who was indicted in June 2013 for 15 counts of extortion. Gov. Nathan Deal announced that he would be suspended, effective immediately. Deal appointed District 5 Commissioner Lee May to replace Ellis in the  interim.

In December 2012, rolling out was among a host of  award recipients  who were honored for “their achievements and for utilizing their reach and resources to edify those whose lives they touch,” says Munson Steed, CEO/Publisher rolling out magazine, at the Men of Power and Influence Awards sponsored by Ford.

Commissioner May is the youngest elected official in DeKalb County’s history to serve on the Board of Commissioners, which oversees a budget of more than $600 million, as the deputy presiding officer, chair of the Budget & Finance Committee and a member on the Public Safety and General Safety Committee.
