Gregg Leakes: The husband of “RHOA’s” most popular cast mate, NeNe, must feel like a man under siege these days. He had his manhood impugned on national TV when it was revealed that he got a loan of some sort from “sixth housewife” Dwight Eubanks. And he’s trying to evade the thunder blasting all around the crib from his towering wife all the while trying to hold on to his marriage.
Ed Hartwell: The former NFL star calendar model decided with his wife, Lisa Wu Hartwell, to exit stage right off of “RHOA” after falling out of favor with BRAVO TV execs when they refused to manufacture image-damaging buffoonery on TV. He is now acting and has a number of business ventures in the works, his wife told rolling out.
Dwight Eubanks: The Resplendent One permanently inserted himself into the “RHOA” mix when he uttered the now famous line, “A fashion show with no fashion, how dreadful!” Since then, he made it perfectly clear that he wants his manicured hands greased with his own reality show and subsequent perks. And he’s a Bravo TV darling since he has kept the drama quotient up real, real high on season three. Unlike Lisa Wu Hartwell, he’s not going anywhere.
Apollo Nida: Phaedra Parks’ newlywed hubbie got on big after being discharged from the big house. Of course it came to light that Nida is an ex-convict who had recently been paroled. According to public records, Apollo Nida was convicted of racketeering and began serving his sentence in July of 2004. He served nearly five years of his 18-year sentence before being paroled on in May of 2009. Nida also served close to five months from December 1998 to May 1999 for theft by receiving stolen goods. Both crimes were committed in March of 1997, so the incidents may have been connected. The racketeering evidence apparently didn’t surface until years later.
Derek J: For a person who rocks women’s clothing and makeup, it sure took a lot of male hormones to rock a wedding dress at an Atlanta society function and be bold about it. That’s Derek J personified. When he’s not taming troubled tresses and tempers on “RHOA,” this master mane manager, who owns the ultra-exclusive J Spot Salon in the city’s trendy Buckhead district, was recently seen as a judge on Oxygen’s “Hair Battle Spectacular.”
Bob Whitfield: Robert Lectress Whitfield Jr. is a former NFL tackle for the Atlanta Falcons and the ex-husband of Sheree Whitfield. The mountainous man and ex-wife kept it rumbling over the airwaves and in the courtroom during their tumultuous divorce. Something about Sheree saying in the first “RHOA” season that “men are intimidated by my success.” And then there was her more infamous: “I’m looking for seven figures from Bob.” The only thing Sheree wound up with was embarrassment when word leaked out that she told the judge she had no marketable skills, not that she was overly concerned about earning a paycheck — and that she was not college educated.
Peter Thomas: Cynthia’s newlywed husband is bucking heads with her new BFF NeNe and he’s lost his Uptown nightclub business. Not a spectacular start. He’s old-fashioned, old school, very loud and very outspoken, she says. Nice recipe for pyrotechnics, added drama and ratings boosting, if you ask me.
