Will and Jada Deny Rumors of a Split

Many hearts sank on Aug. 23 when news began to circulate that Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were separating. And after many shocked fans were left wondering if the news was true, the couple has now come forward and denied the rumors, claiming their marriage is “intact.”

“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact,” said Will and Jada in a joint statement to “Entertainment Tonight.”

The couple’s children also spoke out against the rumors, announcing that their parent’s marriage was still going strong.

“Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split ! False information ..its not true RETWEET!!!,” tweeted Trey Smith, Will’s 18-year-old son from a previous marriage with Sheree Zampino, adding, “Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE ..NOT TRUE AT ALL !! RETWEET. Everyone can think what they want … even if its not true #Lame”

Trey’s 13-year-old brother, Jaden, also showed his support, simply tweeting, “#ItsAllLies.”

Jada’s rep also shot down recent rumors that the “HawthoRNe” actress had started an affair with her recently separated co-star, Marc Anthony.

“All the rumors regarding Marc Anthony and Jada are false. Completely untrue. As for [the reports of a split between] Will and Jada, I’m not commenting on their personal life,” Jada’s rep, Karynne Tencer, told People.

Anthony’s rep also denied the rumors, claiming that tabloid reports of an affair are damaging to the couples families.

“We unequivocally deny this. Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true,” said Anthony’s rep.

Will and Jada originally met in 1990 on the set of his hit show, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” when Jada tried out for a role as the actor’s girlfriend. Although she didn’t get the part, she eventually married Will near her hometown of Baltimore on New Year’s Eve 1997.

One of Hollywood’s most powerful and bankable couples,  over the years the two have shared that divorce is not an option when it comes to their marriage.

“What I found is divorce just can’t be an option,” Will told Ellen Degeneres in 2008. “It’s merely that simple. And I think that’s the problem with L.A. There are so many options. So a huge part of the success for Jada and I is that we just removed the other options.”

Jada added in 2009, “I never thought that I’d be married to anybody, and I surely never thought that I’d be married to anybody as long as I’ve been married to him,” Jada told Good Housekeeping. “And I plan on being married to him for the rest of my life.” –nicholas robinson
