Serena Williams Recording a Hip-Hop Song With DJ Clue; Top Athletes Who Rap

Serena Williams can dominate the tennis court with ease. But the voluptuous beauty is seeking a new challenge by delving into the world of hip-hop. According to reports, Williams, who once dated Common, is currently working in the studio with the Jay-Z-affiliated DJ Clue.

If Williams decides to take rap seriously, she will become the first female pro athlete to rock the mic. Here are the top pro athletes who get a hip-hop pass.

Shaquille O’Neal: Shaq-Fu could be corny at times, but he garnered respect in the hip-hop community. It takes a special emcee to record with The Notorious B.I.G. and Method Man. He also sold millions of records in the early ’90s.

Allen Iverson: If Allen Iverson had continued rapping, he would have been the first pro athlete-gangsta rapper. He rapped about shooting, robbing, sex and killing in his song “40 Bars.” Due to the foul language, NBA commissioner strongly advised Iverson to put down the mic and his career was over before it started.

Chris Webber: Webber tried his hand at rap by releasing a song with Kurupt called “Gangsta, Gangsta.” But he soon discovered that he’s better behind the boards. Webber produced “Blunt Ashes” which was performed by hip-hop legend Nas.
