Doc Rivers has revealed that he will never coach for a team owned by Donald Sterling after this season concludes.

According to Yahoo Sports, Rivers said that he will step down as head coach of the Clippers if the NBA doesn’t present drastic measures to remove Sterling from the league.

From a legal standpoint, the NBA can only suggest that Sterling sell the team. But if he wants to keep it, the NBA will face a tremendous amount of litigation if they attempt to force him out.

But while Rivers could leave his position without much trouble.  Most of the players under contract will find it difficult to leave the franchise due to contractual obligations.

There have been suggestions that the NBA allows every Clipper player to become free agents at the end of the season.

A ruling on Sterling’s punishment will be announced today.
