“This girl sure knows how to leave a strong first impression.”
That was an excerpt from my inner monologue during the first few moments of rolling out’s cover shoot with the uber-mysterious Amber Rose. As the beautiful natural light poured in through the window of our spacious Culver City photo studio, Rose stood statuesque in front of our cameras emoting something that was unexpected.
Peace.
From the second her luxury sedan dropped her off to spend the day with ro, her energy was that of a woman at peace with her transition into being her own woman. I mean, sure, she’s now romantically linked to another rapper (Wiz Khalifa), but this is different … this time, she is letting the world hear her voice.
“I’m just really happy right now,” she would share as we dug in on some tasty catering from LA’s organic Food Lab. “I’m happy and hungry … this food is good though!”
There would be more lighthearted moments. And they will all be shared in the coming weeks. From Amir Shaw’s sure-to-be killer cover story, to the powerful images captured by photographer Zach Cordner, all the way to the “Travel Thought” recorded by publisher Munson Steed, this experience will perhaps provide the most complete look at Amber Rose to date.
