Jim Jones, dipset rapper and star of VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop,” was arrested in New York’s SoHo district March 30 after police pulled him over for driving with a suspended license.
According to nydailynews.com, Jones was pulled over after police caught him driving his 2011 black Bentley in the bus lane on Broadway, after which police discovered that Jones’ license was suspended for failure to pay several tickets and he was arrested on the spot.
A source claims one of the arresting officers told Jones that, “I don’t care how many records you sell, you gotta pay your tickets.”
Later in the day, Jones’ attorney announced that the rapper had been released from custody and was given a desk appearance ticket.
Despite the arrest and the alleged snarky comment from police officers, Jones is claiming that New York City Police were very respectful and treated him with care throughout the entire process.
I’m just an entertainer trying to make a living,” said Jones. “They showed me total respect. Every officer in there is a gentleman.”
With his arrest behind him, Jones can now focus on the release of his fifth album, Capo, which hits stores on April 5.
