George Zimmerman Speaks: Trayvon Martin’s Killer Has Special Request

Trayvon Martin’s killer speaks for the first time.

The man who pulled the trigger that took Trayvon Martin’s life and enraged half the nation is asking for help.

And, as evidenced by the racial incidents that have taken place in metro Detroit and at Ohio State University’s campus, George Zimmerman will get that help. Plenty of it.

After two months of complete silence and seclusion, Zimmerman has released a public statement about the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, calling the episode a “life altering event,” on his website, He said he started the website “to ensure my supporters they are receiving my full attention without any intermediaries.”

Through a statement written on his website, Zimmerman is able to communicate publicly while in hiding. The 28-year-old wrote, “As a result of the incident and subsequent media coverage, I have been forced to leave my home, my school, my employer, my family, and ultimately my entire life,” he says. The lawyers for Zimmerman were able to authenticate that this is indeed his website to reporters.

“I thank you for your patience and I assure you, the facts will come to light,” Zimmerman continues on the website. He then goes on to quote a philosophy attributed to sociologist James W. Loewen: “People have a right to their own opinions, but not to their own facts. Evidence must be located, not created, and opinions not backed by evidence cannot be given much weight.”

Furthermore, under a section titled “My race,” the website has a Thomas Paine quote: “The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.”

Find out what else Zimmerman had to say and what he desperately wants.
