Comedian Mo’Nique drops 82 pounds

Let’s rewind to the early 2000’s when comedian Mo’Nique often used the phrase, ‘skinny girls are evil.’  The mother of four even co-authored a book, Skinny Women Are Evil: Notes of a Big Girl in a Small-Minded World.  In the overview of the book Mo’Nique acknowledged that she was a ‘big’ girl and made claims that she would always be and proud of it.

Well those days are gone. Mo’Nique has recently dropped a 82 pounds and has plans on dropping even more until she reaches her goal weight of 180 pounds. She began her journey last year after the cancellation of “The Mo’Nique Show.”

During a recent interview she revealed, “I tweet my work outs every morning because I want women to see, you don’t have to let them cut you open. You don’t have to let them suck it out. You don’t have to let them put a band around your organs. All you have to do is put the work in and the weight comes off.”

She follows a strict workout program to help her lose the weight and even hired a physical trainer to work out with her on most mornings of the week. Mo’Nique does plenty of stretching, weight training, and cardio workouts. She also has given up all meats with the exception of fish and only eats it grilled or baked.

Way to go Mo’Nique!

  1. I knew she was gonna try to lose that weight. Anytime I hear a big girl bragging about how proud she is all the time about her weight I know she feels the opposite. If you are that proud there’s no need to tell the world every second. I guess the phrase “skinny girls are evil” only applies if you’re not.

  2. Now don’t get me wrong, the itch is funy as a comedian but It does not excuse spaeking negatively about smaller women.
The SKINNY jokes wasn’t funny at all. I believe she was really insecure about herself.
If she is going to use oh I have health issues that’s not going to work for me, because you shouldn’t never count your chickens before they hatch,
Welcome to the real world Mo…Nique
We all make a difference and are all pretty inside & out!!!
    Skinny girls can’t cook…….humm
But you sure are dropping that weight like it hot.

    1. Thank you. It seems many in our community still hold on to the outdated notion that being overweight, suffering with preventable diseases and looking a hot mess is the cool thing to do. Fortunately, some are waking up.

  3. The only thing I don’t like is don’t put own those of us that had WLS, she states she was proud of being big and so forth and then changed her ways, many of us have spent our lives dieting and starving ourselves and we stay fat. I had Gastric Sleeve in April and have always eaten healthy now I eat less carbs and less food and I don’t have constant pangs of starvation all the damn time. It took me years to decide on the surgery and it was a hard decision to make. Best decision ever but she shouldn’t put down those of us who have always worked to be healthy and had to use surgery as ou only option that would actually work.

  4. Nothing shocks like a diabetes scare. Shocked the heck out of me. Ive lost 34 lbs in the last 4 months doing the ethosien diet and working out 4 times a week . Actually been fun, hard but fun
