Actress Tamara Tunie stars in the weekly crime drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in which she portrays a medical examiner cracking tough cases.
In real life, Tunie learned she has been a special victim of her ex-business manager, Joseph Cilibras, who has stolen more than a million dollars from her over the last decade.
Prosecutor Peirce Moser said Cilibrasi opened a credit card account in Tunie’s name by listing himself as her husband, and wrote checks to himself from her bank accounts. He used the money to fund his businesses, investments and vacations.
Cilibrasi pled guilty to first-degree grand larceny for stealing from Tunie. He is facing a prison term of 30 months to 7 1/2 years when he is sentenced Jan. 4.
