Atlanta's High Museum Scores Hit With Music and Art

Sometimes, not often, but sometimes we have to say, “It just doesn’t get better than this.” One of those times is on the third Friday of the month at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta where the well-bred and the high-heeled meet and mingle with music, mojitos and Matisse. The monthly music at the museum event features the finest in national artists as well as local favorites, in the best possible setting, a backdrop of classic and contemporary art and sculpture. On Friday, May 20 the venue will mark another first when it moves the party outdoors to the lawn.

“In Atlanta, there aren’t many venues that feature live jazz music. What makes Friday Jazz at the High Museum of Art unique is that we provide a platform that features local and national jazz artists that you would not have the opportunity to see anywhere else in the city. Friday Jazz is a great night to explore the museum for those who have never been; with gallery access and special exhibition on view. It is the only event in the city that is diverse in age, race, gender and socioeconomic background,” explains Aalyah Duncan, the High’s marketing coordinator.

The High Museum of Art is located at the Woodruff Arts Center, and this incredibly cultural pairing of visual art and live music resonates beautifully in the award-winning setting. Cocktails and light fare are also available. You may even dance if you feel so compelled.

“My goal is to continue to brand and create an ambiance that is appealing to jazz aficionados, novices, art lovers, and young professionals,” concludes Duncan.
