While most reality TV friendships crumble and fall after a season or two, the friendship between “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” BFFs NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey seemed to be one of the few friendships that would outlast their show and their time in the spotlight. But the pair have seen their friendship weaken over the course of the show’s dramatic new season. After weeks of subtle feuding online, Leakes hurled some scathing disses in Bailey’s direction on a new episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
All season long, Leakes has been executing an exodus of friends and fellow “housewives” out of her inner circle and Bailey seems to be the final housewife to get the boot, after the controversy over Leakes calling Bailey’s husband, Peter Thomas, a “b—-.” And during her one-on-one chat with host Andy Cohen, Leakes not only claimed that Bailey is no longer in her life, she also claimed that Bailey brings nothing important to the show.
“I would have to say … Cynthia is, I think everybody knows this … I think Cynthia is okay. It’s not like she’s really bringing anything to the show. I mean, to be honest I mean she talks about the Bailey Agency and Bar One; it’s not like they’re really talking about anything. And then if you have somebody that can’t stick … you know? You need somebody, like, that can stick to something … When the wind blow, you blow this way, then you blow that way. Girl, Bye!
“I think Cynthia is a good friend. And uh, I think she just blows wherever the wind blows,” she added.
Cohen listened in shock as Leakes slammed Bailey and he challenged Leakes’ critique of Bailey, saying that the model has always been her most loyal cast mate since she joined the show. However, Leakes disagrees and claims that Bailey was never really a good friend to her.
“Not really. She’s always been cool with me. But I never felt like Cynthia put a stamp of approval on it. I feel like … no, honestly … I feel like if she was over there with Kandi, she was over there with Kandi. If she was over there with Phaedra, she was over there with Phaedra,” Leakes said.
Considering all that’s happened over the years, we’d have to agree with Cohen in saying it’s shocking to see Leakes turn on Bailey, especially since Bailey was the only real friend Leakes had left on the show all year.
