Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Thousands of Fans Pay Tribute to Nate Dogg

With his harmonious vocals, Nate Dogg played a major role in defining the West Coast hip-hop sound that changed rap music in the ’90s. On March 27, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and thousands of fans paid tribute to Nate Dogg during a memorial service that took place at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal in Long Beach, Calif.

Other hip-hop artists who attended the service included Game, DJ Quick, Mack 10, Xzibit, and WC. Snoop Dogg spoke during the service and reminisced about meeting Nate Dogg at Poly High School in 1986. The two developed a friendship because of their love for music. They eventually formed a group with Warren G called 213.

The trio reached stardom after Dr. Dre, Warren G’s half brother, heard 213’s demo tape and became fond of Snoop. Snoop signed to Death Row records and opened the door for Nate Dogg and Warren G to have successful careers.

Snoop also paid homage by getting Nate Dogg’s face tattooed on his arm. –a.r.
