Phoenix fusion pioneers, Phunk Junkeez have been mixing punk, funk and
rock for 15 years. On a new label with all new tracks, their sixth
album, Hydro Phonic, promises to deliver their best work to date. The
club anthem, “In the Summertime,” emphasizes the group’s mainstream
appeal, while tracks like the introspective “Trust Issue,” prove the
band’s ability to switch musical gears and get serious almost
effortlessly. For those who think cats like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park
started this, grab Hyrdo Phonic and take a history lesson. – gavin philip godfrey
