singer, songwriter and producer
Music is the universal language and Detroit native K-Jon speaks it well. A masterful, singer, songwriter and producer, K-Jon has broad appeal to audiences in all demographics. His music is soulful enough for R&B lovers but smooth enough for adult contemporary. After writing and recording demos for other established artists through Rough Night Productions, K-Jon co-produced and released “Mr Shorty,” and the single shot to the top of the Detroit charts. He later scored big on the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack for the 2003 movie of the same name with his song “Miami” holding his own with the likes of R. Kelly and Tyrese.
“I’m working on my new album. [I] just wrapped up ’08 touring on my own and getting my music heard around the country. “On The Ocean” is expected to do even better now that I’m officially a part of the Universal Republic family,’ explains K-Jon.
“I plan on creating music that people wanna not only listen to, but would also buy. … When people discover that you actually have put together a product worth buying because it’s not just the single that has appeal and quality, but an entire album, you’ll find more of those same individuals who normally buy bootleg copies that will ultimately support you,” he continues. “I think that is part of the reason for the Internet download success of “On the Ocean,” which has had major success on several Billboard charts.People want the ‘good stuff’ if they are gonna buy CDs. That’s just my take on it.”
The hip-hop artist says that music industry sales are reflective of the country’s economic conditions. “Sales are fluctuating like the numbers at the gas pumps,” says K-Jon. –roz edward
