Soul Daze: The International Soul Music Summit Wrapped This WeekendATLANTA—The International Soul Music Summit headed to Atlanta for the third year this past weekend, showcasing the best in international soul music artists and executives. Founded by Terry Bello, the Summit featured appearances and performances by some of the most revered acts in contemporary soul music, including Eric Roberson, Martin Luther, Kelly Love Jones and Heston. Grammy-winning singer/producer, Raphael Saadiq also made a brief appearance at the summit.  All in all, the event served as an informational networking option for aspiring artists and others in the business.
Several panels were added to the schedule this year, including one hosted by NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music), a DJ panel as well as two artist panels featuring acclaimed performers, Joi, Tony Rich, PJ Morton, Big Brooklyn Red and Julie Dexter among others.
“The Soul Summit has been great in terms of giving inspiration and support to my peers and people who are trying to get into this business who need attention and advice on how to take their career to the next stage,” says acclaimed songwriter, Eric Roberson, who attended the event.
Singer, Heston, who also was featured on a panel, agrees. “[Soul artist] are slowly but surely seeping into the mainstream,” he says. “Terry and events and people like him help in a more grassroots way to keep the attention of listeners.”  – Jacinta Howard
