In this week’s edition of rides, we highlight the most impressive SUVs of 2008.
2008 Land Rover LR2
The Land Rover LR2 was the quintessential luxury SUV in 2008 with its
spacious interior and low-mounted backseats. It also impressed with a
3.2-liter inline engine, which produced 230-hp and 234 pound-feet of
torque. The LR2 accelerates to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds. However, the
LR2’s only shortcoming is its lack of cargo space — a
miserly 59 cubic feet.
2008 Chevy Tahoe
By bridging style and durability, the 2008 Chevy Tahoe proved that a
rugged SUV is a great family vehicle. The Tahoe boasts 109-cubic-feet
of cargo capacity and has third row seating. Chevy also revamped the
Tahoe by adding a more aerodynamic body style that gives it precise on-
and off-road handling.
2008 Ford Explorer
A V8 engine, which produced 292-hp, powered the 2008 Ford Explorer. The
added amenities included rear-seat DVD entertainment and navigation
system. But what’s most impressive about the Explorer is that it
has a towing capacity of 7,300 pounds.
