The ARC Detroit, (formerly the Association for Retarded
Citizens) hosted their 56th Annual Legacy Awards Banquet
at Fellowship Chapel.
Rickman Jackson, president of the Service Employees
International Union of Michigan Health Care, gave the
keynote address. Volunteers were honored for their diligent
assistance in aiding the ARC in its mission to care for
adults with special needs.
“It was great coming together with young Detroit activists,
labor leaders, elected officials and leaders from the
[disabled] community. It is very important that we support
organizations like ARC Detroit [which] provides important
services and community support for members of the [disabled]
community,” said Isaac Robinson, a member of
the board of directors for ARC Detroit.
