Chilli: Embracing Motherhood, Service and Dasani Water
For some women, Mother’s Day got off to a rousing start thanks in large part to the contributions of Dasani water and Chilli from the Grammy Award-winning R&B group TLC. The pair teamed up on April 24 to treat hundreds of New York area mothers to a relaxing spa day to celebrate the importance of motherhood. For Chilli, who takes the rearing of her son, Tron, very seriously, the event highlighted a larger mission to embrace the importance of good parenting. –dewayne rogers
Why was the Dasani partnership a perfect fit?
It was very much the perfect fit because I have always tried to practice a healthy lifestyle and water has always been a big part of my daily routine. When I got the call from Dasani, I was excited because I already drank the water and knew it would be an easy fit. I got lucky because the Dasani campaign centered on Mother’s Day and I immediately knew this was meant to be.
Why is it important for women to have spa days?
It’s especially important for mothers to take care of themselves. You can’t take care of others adequately if you are not taking care of yourself. For me, the spa is my time. It gives me an opportunity to pamper myself and feel rejuvenated.
What have you learned about motherhood that you didn’t know when you first started out?
I have learned just how important my role is in my son’s life. I was so excited to be a mommy, but as I watched my son grow older, I realized just how big this responsibility is. You are actually shaping a life. I am raising my son to be a good man, and one day a respectful, God-fearing husband and father.
What is the main piece of advice that you give other mothers when they come to you for insight?
I tell mommies to make their children their first priority. We have them for such a short period of time in our care, and I believe that once you take on that role, your child should become your priority.
