Here’s a TV show that debuted on CBS in 1978, five years after the movie it was based on was released, and which lasted a season on commercial television. Timothy Bottoms who played the main character, James T. Hart, a first-year law student was replaced by James Stephens. John Houseman reprised his Academy Award-winning role as professor Charles W. Kingsfield, Jr. The brilliant actor’s portrayal of an intimidating professor who struck fear in the hearts of students was imitated numerous times in many movies. The rest of the creative show’s cast is impressive, too. This is top-notch television in a convenient archival form. –forrest green III
