Chicago – The DuSable Museum of African American History is the first museum of its type in the country and is the only major independent institution in Chicago established to preserve and interpret the historical experiences and achievements of African Americans.

Travel 380 miles southwest (preferred method of travel, train or drive) is the Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland the nation’s largest performing arts complex outside of New York City. PlayhouseSquare in collaboration with the Cleveland Metroploitan School District will present the 10th annual All-City Musical, A Decade of Dreams May 20 – May 31.

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History has an outstanding collection of artifacts and research materials. “Freedom’s Sisters,” an exhibit featuring prominent black women who played key roles in the Civil Rights struggle, is showing through July 5.
