Today’s Music News: Directed by Kanye West; Tameka Foster, P.I.

Kanye West directed the video for unsigned phenom Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” video. West’s girlfriend, Amber Rose; her best friend, Dez; and West’s longtime partner-in- rhyme, Common, were spotted on the set this past weekend in New York. There are reportedly cameo appearances by Fabolous, DJ Clue, Trey Songz, Micki Minaj and the entire Young Money family. The video’s theme is high school basketball, and Drake’s bevy of young women makes up his particular team’s roster.

“Some of us younger men, we refer to our affiliation with women like a roster, you have key women in your life when you’re single and doing your thing,” the rapper said.

As for Kanye West, he continues to diversify — I guess in these tough economic times, everyone is trying to up their skill set.

And soon-to-be-divorced R&B star Usher apparently thinks that his estranged wife Tameka Foster-Raymond has been hiring a private investigator to follow him. Court documents allege that the Grammy Award-winning singer is requesting evidence that reflects on his “conduct” during their marriage, which includes “detective reports, photos or recordings” that have been pulled from “surveillance or investigation.” None of this has been confirmed by Foster-Raymond. Here’s hoping Magnum, P.I. didn’t follow him to the club, because apparently he has an affinity for those spots. –dusty culpepper
