Idris Elba’s the Man, David Alan Grier Gets Booted, and Nick Cannon Makes Power Moves

Idris Elba’s the Man

It
was only a matter of time before Hollywood caught up with the general
consensus among black women … Idris Elba is the man. With a guest spot
in the new HBO series “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” a recurring
guest role on NBC’s Emmy-winning comedy, “The Office,” and the upcoming
Screen Gems release, Obsessed, which co-stars Beyonce Knowles, life is
pretty sweet for Elba right now. It just got better. Reports have
surfaced that Elba will be signing on for the big-screen adaptation of
DC/Vertigo’s The Losers. Based on the DC comic book series that ran
from 2003–2006, this may prove to be the breakout role for the talented
Brit.

David Alan Grier Gets Booted

The
dance gods have answered our prayers as funnyman David Alan Grier
finally got booted off of ABC stalwart, “Dances With The Stars.” Grier,
for his part, did give it the old college try, but his dance moves were
straight out of a geriatric playbook. We look forward to Grier’s next
on-screen foray … we’re just glad it won’t be next week on “DWTS.”

Nick Cannon Makes Power Moves

In
a much-needed departure from the constant Nick Cannon-Mariah Carey
pregnancy rumors, Nickelodeon announced that Nick Cannon has been
tapped as an honorary chairman of the kid network. Moved by the
announcement, Cannon released the following statement:

“I
started my career here at Nickelodeon and am so excited to be back,
serving as an integral part of TEENick as the in-house voice and
representative for teens everywhere. TEENick is their network and I am
here to make sure this is an ultimate destination for and about them.”

As much as the world may try, you just can’t hate on Nick Cannon’s hustle.
