The
marketing campaign for Princess Tiana and The
Princess and the Frog movie has been thrust into overdrive in places like New Orleans, Atlanta, and
suburban Los Angeles.
There was the regal coming-out party for Princess Tiana at the New Orleans
Museum of Art entitled “Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales form
the Walt Disney Studio” attended by Louisiana Lt. Gov. Mitch Landreau, New
Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and the producers and directors for Princess and the Frog.
Princess
Tiana, Disney’s first African American princess, is featured in the “Dream
Come True” exhibit, a spectacular collage of 600 sketches and animation stills of
Disney princesses from select films, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty,
The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast as well as The Princess and the Frog. Some of the characters date
as far back as the 1930s. The Princess and the Frog opened on Nov. 15.
On
Nov. 21, the Georgia Aquarium will be free for all girls 12 years and younger
who wear a princess costume. Boys 12 years and younger can enter for free if
they are wearing a frog or prince costume. The offer is good for one child per
paid adult and annual pass member. The Georgia Aquarium will also host parades, games and fairytale fun from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
For
the first time in nearly 70 years, Disney is opening up its studios to the
public for a special screening of The Princess and the Frog. Walt Disney Studios
in Burbank, Calif., will show its newest animated movie
from Nov. 25 through Dec. 13. The last time that the general public was allowed
in for a special preview of one of its movies was in 1940 for the film Fantasia,
according to a Disney press release.
“We’re welcoming families to our studio to see where Walt Disney made real movie magic,” said Dick Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios in a prepared statement. “Our studio is not open to the public, so it’s an unprecedented opportunity for Disney fans to experience a movie right here on the Disney lot where we’ve filmed Disney classics like Mary Poppins, Princess Diaries, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more.”
Down the way from Burbank,
Disney is planning a parade-like show at its Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, Calif.
The Princess and the Frog open in theaters nationwide on Dec.
