Legendary R&B singer Sade is making good on her rumored promise to grace fans with her presence after a 10-year hiatus. Her new project, Soldier of Love, her sixth studio album, will finally be released by Epic records on Feb. 9. The highly anticipated set has already spawned a well-received single and promises to deliver more of the seductive soul her fans have come to love her for.
“I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I’m not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand,” she said in a statement to the press. She now has much to say.
Her last project, Lover’s Rock, was released in November of 2000. It went multiplatinum.
“You can only grow as an artist as long as you allow yourself the time to grow as a person,” the singer says. “We’re all parents, our lives have all moved on. I couldn’t have made Soldier of Love any time before now, and though it’s been a long wait for the fans — and I am sorry about that — I’m incredibly proud of it.” –gerald radford
