Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are several married athletes who have been branded as cheaters. Although Woods, Bryant and O’Neal have gained national attention because of their extramarital affairs, they are not the only professional athletes who are sneaking around. According to a report done by CNN, nearly 80 percent of professional athletes have cheated on their spouses. Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith recently spoke to rolling out about why professional athletes find it difficult to stay committed to their wives. –amir shaw

“If Adam succumbed to Eve, it’s an indiscriminate situation. It’s something ingrained in us as species that we are constantly in conflict with. When we covet the opposite sex, we must incorporate discipline. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get it wrong.

“It’s challenging. You literally need divine intervention to help you with the issue of women if you are a heterosexual male because the temptation is that great. It’s not popular to say that in this ‘Oprahfied’ world, but that is the reality that we are living in. It’s inescapable.

“But there is still a responsibility to take care of your children. There is a responsibility to take care of a woman you call your own. You shouldn’t put your hands on a woman, be blatantly disrespectful, or be dishonest with her. One aspect is being who you are and who you want to be. The other thing is the respect of dealing with a person and giving them the option of wanting to deal with who you are by always being honest.”
