Ugandan Congregants, Children Subjected to Gay Porn by Pastor

alt

“Children, cover your eyes!” is a phrase you wouldn’t expect to hear in church, but you might in Uganda. Pastor Charles Ssempa’s congregation, in the country, was subjected to a Sunday morning slideshow of gay pornography that he downloaded from the Internet. He reportedly aired the taboo activity as part of educating his members on the homosexual lifestyle,” the Guardian reports.

The anti-gay pastor wanted to demonstrate what goes on behind closed doors in the Ugandan gay community, in an effort to counter the “what goes on behind closed doors is their business” argument that’s commonly used. Ssempa’s passion on the subject runs deep, giving him cause to support of a bill that would impose the death penalty on people found guilty of having such sex.

“The major argument homosexuals have is that what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is nobody’s business, but do you know what they do in their bedrooms?” Ssempa asked his congregants, which included many children, before showing the graphic images. Gay activists spoke out against the stunt as “twisted homophobic propaganda” and called for Ssempa’s arrest.

“Showing pornography in church in the presence of minors is twisted homophobic propaganda, where homosexuality is equated to pedophilia and pornography, ” said Noma Pakade from the African gay rights group Behind the Mask.

The unrepentant preacher says he plans to show gay porn to the country’s parliament next to rally more support for his anti-gay war. I’m sure they’re chomping at the bit. –gerald radford
