Trey Songz Appearance Causes Pandemonium at Carol’s Daughter Event at Essence Fest

Trey Songz Appearance Causes Pandemonium at Carol’s Daughter Event at Essence FestNEW ORLEANS – It was already a precarious predicament within the small, suffocating confines at the Carol’s Daughter event in the French Quarter. And that was before superstar Trey Songz rolled up and set the area ablaze causing the fire marshal to temporarily shut down the event.

It was supposed to feature NBA superstar Chris Paul, Jada Pinkett Smith and Trey Songz as a way to promote Carol’s Daughter products, says founder and owner Lisa Price. But an hour before the show started, there were long lines and short fuses extending out in every direction waiting to attend the Carol’s Daughter’s/Dilliard event.

Things were only mildly to moderately chaotic when Paul, the all-world point guard for the New Orleans Hornets, rolled through an area no bigger than a tiny pool hall. And if you’ve ever been in the French Quarter, then you know the streets are barely wide enough for one-way traffic. That’s where thousands of young women were deposited.

How security cordoned off an area to get Trey Songz into this cramped area is miraculous. He must have sat in his car for a half-hour while security and Carol’s Daughter organizers figured out how get Trey inside safely.

“Do girls really act like that?” asked Willow Wonderman from Miami, who obviously has never been to a red carpet event or CD signing. “I’ve seen this type of stuff on TV. But it’s another to actually watch this in person.”

You just heard an unexpected outburst of screeches and screams so loud, they could have stopped birds in mid-flight. Trey managed to sign autographs for perhaps a dozen or so women before a brigade of fire marshals and police busted up the event like they were storming a hill.

Getting people out of the small store was easy compared to getting thousands of girls off the streets. For me, it was a blast out of the past when I remembered girls actually using all their might to break the bulletproof glass of the SUV to get to the object of their intense affection and crying as if they were in physical pain. All because they couldn’t touch the object of their desires.

If anyone wondered if Trey Songz was that dude before this, no need to wonder anymore. By the way, Jada Pinkett Smith did appear, just a little bit later than scheduled. –terry shropshire
