Keyshia Cole’s Mom, Frankie, Headed to ‘Celebrity Rehab’

As rumored, Keyshia Cole’s mom, Frankie Lons, has confirmed to the media that she is headed for a stint on the VH-1 hit show “Celebrity Rehab.”

Lons, who came to national and international notoriety through her daughter’s record-breaking BET reality show “The Way It Is,” then through her own reality show with her other daughter, Neffe, on the same station, said she is addicted to alcohol and needs help.

“Absolutely. That’s ’cause I had really started overdoing it with my drinking,” Lons admitted on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” recently. “It’s really taking its toll because sometimes I wake up and don’t remember nothing. Basically I’m hiding stuff from myself and that means that I need help.”

Her liquid poison of choice? “Hennessy. If I had it like the rest of the celebrities had it, I’d be drinking Louie the 13th. Shout out to Louie!” Lons said.

Lons, who has battled drug addiction and abuse throughout her adulthood in Oakland, Calif., and now here in suburban Atlanta, revealed she realized she needed help a month ago.

“Well, I’ve been in denial. I thought I was drinking socially until I woke up and didn’t realize where I was. Sometimes I feel like I know I’ve got it under control, but that’s just the devil,” she said.

As far as her fractured relationship with R&B singer and daughter Keyshia Cole, Lons said the two are on the mend.

“I was talking to Monica and she had mentioned Keyshia’s name and I had just got emotional because I really had missed her because we was going through something, but we’re OK. We’re back on point; [I] talked to her yesterday,” she said.

Let’s hope that Lons can get on point with her alcoholism. –terry shropshire
