As super-producer Jazze Pha and actress Logan Browning will happily attest, Tyler Perry Studios definitely knows how to put on a banging party — even when the founder and director isn’t present. The wrap parties (which are celebrations where production cast and crew members unwind after months of shooting) for TPS’ movies and sitcoms are the most coveted in the city of Atlanta — and not just because of the free food and libations. As could be expected, the closing celebration for Perry’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf was no exception. In fact, fans should hope that the movie is as exciting as the recent event. Even TPS Executive Vice President Roger Bobb, who produces Tyler Perry’s movies and television sitcoms and is well-known for his unflappability, ripped it on the dance floor.

There’s added excitement injected into this project, partially because of the highly-decorated, all-star cast that includes Grammy-winner Janet Jackson, Academy Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg, Tony winners Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog), Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, and singer Macy Gray.

Unfortunately, in contrast to Perry’s other wrap parties, many of the aforementioned cast members weren’t in attendance due to scheduling conflicts. Also, it isn’t uncommon for TPS to host a more private, exclusive party for the A-list cast.

And, no, Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks) didn’t get an invite. —terry shropshire
