Police raided the suburban Atlanta home of up-and-coming rap star Waka Flocka Flame Thursday, Dec. 16 in search of drugs and reports of prostitution.
Instead, Henry County, Ga., police found marijuana and weapons. And in the process, a battalion of police officers handcuffed Waka’s musical boss, Gucci Mane, who heads up the 1017 Bricksquad unit, Waka’s mother, Debra Antney, told TMZ.
According to the reports, Waka Flocka was not present in the home at the time of the police raid. But they said at the time that they would file an arrest warrant for Waka if the rapper does not appear at his home and submit to police questioning, the online celebrity blog reports.
Gucci Mane was eventually freed, but two other men in the house at the time of the raid were charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor in Georgia. Police reportedly also confiscated a Kel-Tec .223 sub-machine gun and a .40 Caliber semi-automatic.
Waka Flocka’s mother denies there was prostitution.
Waka Flocka, who hosted a pre-Thanksgiving turkey giveway in the south Atlanta suburb of Forest Park, has had trouble evading the attention of the law and enemies since he was busted on the scene with the “O Let’s Do It” gangsta rap joint. In January, Waka was shot and robbed at a car wash on Atlanta’s south side. The bullet went through his right arm. A month or so later, Waka, Gucci and others got into a brawl with members of Young Jeezy’s crew at a downtown Atlanta clothing store. He also got into a scrape when police learned that he traveled out of state for a Dallas concert in violation of his probation.
Waka Flocka’s album, Flockaveli, was released on Oct. 5. The single, “O Let’s Do It,” peaked at No. 62 on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart. He was also named the 8th hottest MC of 2010 by MTV. –terry shropshire
