In conjunction with Arts 4 Life Campaign, P.U.P.I.L. will host an annual fundraising campaign that will serve as the voice for this hideous crime by increasing the public’s awareness and assisting organizations such as Georgia Care Connection, StreetGrace, A Future Not A Past, and others that provide its victims with housing, counseling, mental health, career training and restoration for their future.
“We’ve made art a platform. All of the benefits received from Arts 4 Life Campaign will be used to [raise] public awareness and to fuel green training, green job opportunities and green shelter for victims of human trafficking,” shared Love.
Love championed this cause in 2009 when his organization started working with the World Chamber of Commerce on a project titled “Going the Green Mile.” The project’s main focus was to end human trafficking.
Love learned that 500 young girls, ages 12-14, were being trafficked on a monthly basis in Atlanta alone. This startled him. “It touched me. I have two daughters. I felt it was my duty to do something. We took this issue on as an initiative, and we educated ourselves on the problem,” Love said.
“We partnered with the organizations that are dealing with the issues. We started our fundraiser in October. We are taking all the pieces of art so artists can showcase themselves [and] have a voice to speak about the problems. The art is an ice breaker, a tool to bring people together so they can become aware of what’s going on around them. We are trying to get entertainers involved,” said Love.
Love is also documenting the activities to create a film that will educate people and bring awareness to this issue.
His name is no coincidence. His humanitarian efforts coupled with his drive to ensure the well being of youth are the biggest indicators that he’s fulfilling his calling. –yvette caslin
