“106 and Park,” DJ Megatron (Corey McGriff) was gunned down early Sunday morning in Staten Island, N.Y.
Detectives said he was shot at around 2 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene. Friends of McGriff report that it was normal for him to return home at that hour after deejaying an event.
The former Hot 97 DJ was not known to be feuding with anyone at the time, according to friends:
“I don’t know of anybody who had a personal issue with him,” a friend told the New York Daily News. “But at the same time, when you start getting success you have people who don’t necessarily like that.”
There are no eyewitnesses or suspects at this time.
