Great Reads: ‘Everyday Icon Michelle Obama and the Power of Style’

Author Kate Betts has released a new book titled, Everyday Icon Michelle Obama and the Power of Style. The book is a comprehensive discussion of why style matters, and why in particular, First Lady Michelle Obama’s style matters so much. Betts is a contributing editor at Time magazine and former editor at Harper’s Bazaar. In both capacities, she has always been one of the people at the crossroads of politics and fashion. In Everyday Icon Michelle Obama and the Power of Style Betts disects the details from Michelle Obama’s choice of clothing, the most subtle gestures, and her knack for mixing high fashion with affordable brands.  As the first African American first lady she writes her own rules, and is establishing a new etiquette for political wives along with altering the definition of what it means to be a woman in America today.
