Democratic Strategist Donna Brazile Named Interim DNC Chair

Democratic Strategist Donna Brazile Named Interim DNC Chair

Sources inside the Beltway have confirmed that the interim national chair  for the Democratic National Committee will be longtime Democratic Party member Donna Brazile, a well-known political strategist, professor at Georgetown University, author and columnist. Prior to this most recent appointment, Brazile served as the Democratic National Committee’s vice chair of voter registration and participation.

Brazile is the author of Cooking With Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics,  a personal account of her more than 30 years in politics. Born in Kenner, La., Brazile has worked on every presidential campaign from 1976 through 2000, when she served as campaign manager for former Vice President Al Gore, becoming the first African American woman to manage a presidential campaign. In addition she is the founder and managing director of Brazile & Associates LLC, a general consulting, advocacy and training firm based in Washington, D.C.

According to senior members of the Democratic Party, she will serve as the interim chair to assist with the transition between Tim Kaine, who resigned the post on April 5, and new chair, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  Under DNC rules, Wasserman Schultz can’t be elected chair until 15 days after she is put forward for the post.
