You may remember the loving couple, Doug and Jackie Christie, who had their own reality show a few years ago. We would like to think she was the original basketball wife. CEO of Jean Rah Fya Records, a best-selling author and fashion designer with her own label, Jackie now has her own web series. “Jackie Christie Knows Best” is set to air later this month. We also heard that she may be thinking of joining Season 3 of Vh1’s “Basketball Wives.” Jackie stopped by to chat with rolling out about love, reality shows, business and more. –tammie reed
You have a great entrepreneurial spirit. What is the source of that passion?
It comes from my desire to give back to the world. I’ve always strived to achieve my goals and have set the bar high. I’m competitive with myself, as I believe that, when you work hard and do good, you get great results. I get the most satisfaction from helping others. So, by being successful, I can then do even more through my foundation.
Tell us about your new fashion line.
Yes, I just released my spring 2011 Jackie Christie “Black Collection” at LA Fashion Week. It was very well received, and I’m currently fielding orders and designing my summer line.
What do you think of the Vh1 reality show, “Basketball Wives?” Have you ever thought of being part of the cast?
I love the show, personally. There are a lot of fun elements to the show and, since I’m a basketball wife as well, I’m also relating to their situations. Each cast member brings something different to the show. I know some of the wives, so it makes it more entertaining. Right now, I’m filming my web series. So, that’s my main focus.
What can viewers expect to see in “Jackie Christie Knows Best?”
With my web series, I will help both men and women with common questions about a vast array of things and share tons of informative and entertaining content. My series is geared toward becoming the go-to place for everyone looking for fresh, new content and exciting interviews. I will also have celebrity interviews and everything that’s relevant in today’s pop culture world.
You have a great marriage. What’s some key advice to maintaining a healthy relationship?
I would say love and respect yourself first and foremost. Then, you can love and respect your mate. Marriage is a lot more than people think going into it. You have to have mutual communication, 100 percent disclosure and, by that, I mean tell your partner everything. Don’t keep secrets. It helps form a special bond between the two of you, and it allows for greater intimacy. Be your mate’s best friend, and learn each other’s likes and dislikes. Never let anyone or anything come between your marriage or relationship.
