Ex-Beyoncé bandmate Farrah Franklin threatened a lawsuit against the Culver City, Texas, police department, claiming she was the victim of “racial profiling” and was “manhandled” after they responded to an altercation Saturday at 6:45 a.m.
The former Destiny’s Child star quickly fired off on Twitter following her arrest Saturday for what she calls being “manhandled” and says the ruckus with police was “racially motivated.” After getting a $100 bail bond, Farrah tweeted, “YES, I’m okay & YES there WILL be a lawsuit ! F*** da Culver City Police !!!! You can’t keep a good girl down.”
Franklin also stated, “Unfortunately, I am the latest victim on what seems to be a growing list of those who are racially profiled and mistreated by Culver City Police. I was manhandled by the arresting officers. I am really upset about all that has taken place. I have never had a run in with the law before Saturday.”
But the Culver City PD counters that claim, telling TMZ they were simply responding to a telephone complaint by a citizen who claimed Franklin was disturbing the peace.
“On Saturday, I was not arrested. I was detained,” Franklin said.
Again, cops beg to differ, saying Franklin was indeed arrested for disorderly conduct.
Franklin claims, “There were no female officers on duty, and I was required to take off my top and was treated unfairly.”
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that there was indeed a female officer present.
It’s hard to take sides in this issue because Franklin has yet to disseminate any details of the activities that led up to and include her alleged “arrest” or “detainment.” Perhaps, she is saving that information for her lawsuit against a government agency.
